Meet Erica. Chicago born, Lake Michigan tough, and newly engaged to Greg.
They've picked Cabo San Lucas: a resort on the sand, a ceremony at sunset, and two hundred of their favorite people on the beach. It's going to be the party of their lives.

Venue. Flights. Welcome bags for two hundred. A DJ who knows every song Greg's uncles are going to request.
The list got longer every night. And near the top, circled three times, was the item that kept Erica up at 2 a.m.:

The clock · A scouting weekend in Cabo
So Erica flew down to do makeup trials.
Sunday night. Her flight home left in the morning, and Erica started to believe she'd be going back to Chicago without a makeup artist.

Then she found Enrique.
Before he'd opened a single palette, he'd put a glass of champagne in her hand and asked her to tell him everything: the dress, the girls, the resort, the minute the ceremony starts.
He listened. He smiled that smile. And for the first time in months, Erica relaxed.

Then he turned her chair around.
The trial look matched her dress. It matched her bridesmaids' colors. It looked like Erica, only lit from the inside.
She cried a little. (Waterproof mascara. Of course.)
She flew home to Chicago with one item crossed off that list for good.

The girls · The wedding morning
Months later Erica was back in Cabo, and so happy to see Enrique again that she hugged him twice.
The suite filled up: bridesmaids in matching robes, champagne on ice, a playlist that was mostly Selena and Beyoncé. Enrique kept everyone on schedule without anyone feeling rushed, and he checked in with the planner, the photographer and the hair stylist so Erica didn't have to.
That's his real job on a wedding morning: he sets the tone. Every woman who left his chair walked out feeling like the most beautiful person in the room.

The sun · The ceremony on the beach
Two hundred guests turned around in the sand. El Arco glowed behind the arch. The breeze lifted her veil exactly the way it does in the movies.

Two kids, one golden retriever and twenty anniversaries later, Erica sent a text.

Enrique · 9:15 PMFor you? Always. I'll bring the champagne.
